QUALIFICATION DESCRIPTION

This qualification has been developed in collaboration with industry, providers and Lantra for those learners working in arboriculture. It encourages learners to follow a programme of structured continuing professional development, facilitates access to higher-level management qualifications, and improves job prospects by formalising professional skills and training. Learners will complete this qualification with a concrete understanding of the following:

  • Pest, disease and disorder identification
  • Tree biomechanics and maintenance
  • Woody vegetation formation and physiology
  • Principles of tree management
  • Selection, planting and design for amenity and landscape purposes

Optional units include: Tree Related Damage to Built Structures and Principles of Woodland Establishment.

PROGRESSION ROUTES: WHAT'S NEXT

Learners who achieve these qualifications could progress to other higher level qualifications such as the ABC Awards Level 6 Certificate or Diploma in Arboriculture, gain promotion to a more senior position within existing employment, or begin entrepreneurial activities such as starting ones own business.
