The SEGAwards ABC Level 2Certificate in Youth Work Practice Englandhas been developed withindustry experts including the National Youth Agency, ETS England and Wales. This qualification embraces the National Occupational Standards for youth work and is JNC recognisedwith endorsement by ETS England and Wales. It supports the skills and knowledge learners need to become a competent Assistant Youth Support Worker. Learners will complete this qualification with a concrete understanding and practical experience of the following:
Optional units include:Key Principles and Values for Working with Young People who Misuse Substances, Supporting Young People with Disabilities and/or Diverse Learning Needs within a Youth Work Setting, Supporting Young People’s Recreation and Leisure Within a Youth Work Setting, Anti-discriminatory Practice in Youth Work, Exploring Values, Beliefs and Spiritual Development within a Youth Work Setting,Youth Work in Digital Spaces and Places , Trauma informed approaches to Youth Work andSocial Action.
There is a requirement that across the programme learners will undertake 40 hours of work experience in a youth work environment paid or unpaid throughout their learning journey. Learners must have access to a real work environment for most of the units.
Learners who achieve the SEG ABC Level 2 Certificte in Youth Work Principles England can progress in to employment as a Assistant Youth Support Worker and/or Learners may also consider progression onto the SEG ABC Level 3 Certificate and/or Diploma in Youth Work Practice England.
