QUALIFICATION DESCRIPTION

This is a nationally recognised qualification designed to help learners who need support in overcoming barriers to work by developing basic work skills and enabling them to try out a number of vocational areas.

It will be of benefit to those who:

  • are not sure which vocational area they want to go into
  • want to build the skills and confidence they need to apply for supported or voluntary work
  • need a starting point for getting into work or supervised work
  • need to learn how to apply for jobs or training
  • want their learning to be recognised as a formal qualification
  • want to develop relevant work skills
  • are not yet ready to study at Level 1.

This qualification is not available as part of an apprenticeship framework and does not lead directly to employment.

Successful completion of this qualification may increase learners chances of progressing into a work placement, voluntary work or supported employment. It may also enable progression to a range of qualifications at Level 1 such as:

  • SEG Awards Certa Level 1 Award in Employability
  • SEG Awards Certa Level 1 Certificate or Diploma in Skills for Further Learning and Employment
  • SEG Awards Certa Level 1 Certificate or Diploma in Progression.
